KNOWING Stakeholder Challenge Workshop Naples
Event date
Summary
The Napoli Regional Hub Challenge Workshop took place on November 10 at the Plinivs Study Center - University of Naples Federico II, bringing together representatives from the technical offices of the Region, as well as NGOs and private stakeholders operating in the environmental and energy production sectors. Participants delved into strategic adaptation and mitigation measures being investigated in the case of the Napoli Demonstrator. The constructive dialogue facilitated the exchange of experiences and the identification of transformative interventions.
Key interventions, such as urban greening, the decentralisation of energy production and the formation of energy communities, as well as innovative solutions like living breakwaters, were given particular emphasis during the discussions. The conversation led to the creation of a map outlining the risks and co-benefits associated with these significant interventions for the city. This map will be a crucial tool in developing the Napoli Vision, guiding discussions at the next Regional Hub workshop in 2024.
Informative Steps
(Please provide a general overview and collected data in this section)
The participants were provided with an in-depth report on the coastal area of the city, containing Plinivs analyses based on official demographic data. The activity commenced with a presentation of the KNOWING project's objectives by Prof. Zuccaro and Prof. Leone. Participants, along with Plinivs and Anea for the Municipality of Naples, delved into the proposed measures and discussed their applicability in the Neapolitan context. This included considerations such as the installation of photovoltaic systems and the transformation of open spaces in the watershed. The identification of specific interventions for increasing climate resilience, based on the proposed measures, occurred through a ranking system (see interactive step 1 and 2).
Data from the interactive steps are reported in the following sections.
